In thinking of those who no longer grace us with their presence here on Earth...

The Veil

Feeling the thin veil
I emerged from a dream
Into light out of darkness
You were there and still loved me
You held me under the stars
Within the cosmic fabric of time and space
We are never apart.

I know the feeling! :)

He seems to be a god, that man
Facing you who leans to be close,
Smiles, and, alert and glad, listens
To your mellow voice.

And quickens in love at your laughter
That stings my breasts, jolts my heart
If I dare the shock of a glance.
I cannot speak,

My tongue sticks to my dry mouth,
Thins fire spreads beneath my skin,
My eyes cannot see and my aching ears
Roar in their labyrinths.

Chill sweat slides down my body,
I shake, I turn greener than grass,
I am neither living nor dead and cry
From the narrow between.

But endure, even this grief of love.

Shadow of a Tree

In the stillness she stands alone
Waiting through the passing season
Her colors have fallen to the ground
The moment is a golden one
Yet it is but a whisper in time
And is over far too soon
Inevitably winter will descend
Long and dark the nights
Days cold and slowly drifting
Until spring’s eventual embrace
Arrives like the coming dawn

Photography

I was recently contacted by a photographer who liked my photos on Facebook. He suggested I re-do some of them in B&W. I personally don't care for B&W, except in certain photographic content, but I am interested in adjusting color and light schemes to create interesting effects and dimensions in photos, and enhancing what already exists. Here's some of my first work (before and after):

Jack in the Window

Original

Adjusted

A much brighter, glowing Jack... with more of a multi-dimensional look.

Seagull on the Catalina Island Ferry

Original

Adjusted

This is a starker yet more defined image (in appearance) than the hazy original, the reduction of color and contrast gives a "sleek" feel to the photo.

Luna de Santa Fe

Original

Adjusted

I liked the enhancement of the luminosity within the red/violet spectrum while still keeping a "realistic" look.

The Webmaster

The darker green creates more of a contrast with the spider web and white paint.

Unplugging from the Social Network

Today I made a conscious decision to deactivate my Facebook account. This was not a decision based solely on rebellion of current "globalized" socialistic structures and communications, narcissistic views, and unrealistic or pretentious representations of human identity featured within the network; it was more of an act to free myself of an unhealthy addiction to distraction and time consuming matters which are not important or necessary in my life.

It's a good feeling... we'll see how long it lasts. :)
